The leadership of Kia Philippines said that the strategy on marketing the official introduction of the EV6 is way different from other EV models that are offered in the country.
In an interview, Kia Philippines President Emmanuel Aligada said that the main difference with its latest offering is that the model is offered with a strong support from various firms under Ayala Group.
“If we are going to sell the EV6 alone, it will just be another EV offering in the market. We’re different because we have the full EV ecosystem,” Aligada told Carmudi Philippines.
Per Kia Philippines, the EV6 has charging options manufactured by Integrated Micro-Electronics, Inc. (part of the Ayala Group) and its partner Greenstrum, as well as an expanding charging system network provided by Ayala Land.
Such an ecosystem, the Ayala-backed automaker said, is set to provide a “convenient and enjoyable user experience.”
Since last year, Kia Philippines has downplayed myths about owning an EV. According to Kia Philippines Product Strategy and Planning Director Josh Altarejos, the property developer arm of the conglomerate in which Kia Philippines belongs has already rolled out numerous charging stations in seven cities within Luzon.
While several structures can help cover more miles, the Kia EV6 can help dispel range anxiety, thanks to its 528-kilometer range (based on an Environmental Protection Agency test) and its regenerative charging feature.
Retailed in five body color options namely Moonscape, Snow White Pearl, Runway Red, Yacht Blue and Aurora Black Pearl, the Kia EV6 is priced at P3.788 million.
Relatedly, Ayala Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Bong Consing — who is the country’s first owner of the Kia EV6 in the Philippines — said that the Ayala Group is committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. “Ayala believes that positive climate action is an investment that will benefit future generations,” he added.
The initial roll-out of Kia dedicated EV dealerships will start at its outlets in New Manila, Quezon City; Alabang, Muntinlupa; Sto. Tomas, Batangas; and Pampanga.
