What new energy vehicles (NEV) will Kia Philippines bring to the country until 2024?
Per Kia Philippines, it will bring a battery-electric vehicle and a hybrid electric vehicle to the country until 2024.How many internal combustion engine (ICE) models will we see Kia Philippines introduce from 2024 to 2024?
Kia Philippines will introduce two ICE models from 2024 to 2024.During a roundtable meeting, Kia Philippines Product Planning Officer Aila Marie Peñaflor confirmed that the brand will bring a new battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and a new hybrid model to the Philippines, which will bolster its electrified lineup currently only made up of the EV6.
While the incoming BEV is yet to be named, it is possible that it could be the Kia EV9 as the recently revealed EV5 is still in its concept phase.
As for the upcoming hybrid model, it is likely to be the Kia Sorento hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) — which is currently available in countries like Singapore — or the Sportage HEV (sold in the United States).
“Our goal is not just to stop by introducing BEVs. And as we all know, the NEV market is still growing so we will be introducing a hybrid vehicle in order to cater to the needs of our increasing or growing NEV market,” Peñaflor stated.
Not neglecting its internal combustion engine (ICE)-powered offerings, Kia Philippines also mentioned that it will introduce two fuel-propelled models, also from 2023-2024. One of which is a new model and the other a refreshed version of a current offering.
Like the forthcoming NEV nameplates, the ICE models are yet to be revealed. That said, it is possible that a refreshed version of the Kia Seltos is on the horizon, or probably an updated iteration of the Stonic since it is the brand’s volume driver in terms of sales.
“Kia Philippines will not stop by just introducing NEVs and we will be maximizing our ICE vehicles… Within this timeframe — 2023 to 2024 — please expect that we are going to introduce two new models: one will be a refreshed model and then the other one will be a new model,” added Peñaflor.
To date, Kia Philippines’ lineup is made up of the aforementioned EV9, all-new Sorento, all-new Carnival, Stonic, Soluto, Seltos, and the K2500 commercial vehicle.
