Kia releases all-new Carnival MPV in Thailand

Soups and curries aren’t the only spicy things in Thailand. The country’s automotive scene has been heating up with back-to-back releases from various car brands.

The most recent automotive marque to launch a new vehicle in the Land of Smiles is Kia. The South Korean automaker released its latest iteration of the Carnival MPV.

Now on its fourth generation, the Thai-spec Kia Carnival is said to be inspired by premium SUVs. That said, Thai customers find an eye-catching exterior design with a large front grille (housing the front camera) which now dons the new Kia logo.

Flanking the updated tiger face grille are sleek headlights whose styling is similarly echoed at the MPV’s rear. The new Kia Carnival will ride on 18-inch alloy wheels.

Other comfort and convenience amenities include the smart power sliding door, remote one-touch power door and liftgate, power tailgate (auto-close), and puddle lights.

Updates to the interior include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment head unit, a Bose audio system, and a Qi wireless charger.

The Thai-spec 11-seater MPV is built on Kia’s third-generation infrastructure developed for superior performance and fuel efficiency.

Under the hood is a 2.2-liter Smartstream diesel engine mated to an eight-speed automatic tranny. This powertrain setup gives the all-new Carnival 202 horses.

Kia Carnival comes with a variety of driving modes: Normal, Sport, Eco, and Smart.

Safety-wise, Kia packs the refreshed Carnival with a stability control system helps stabilize and prevent slipping while cornering and while driving on steep slopes. A rear-view camera makes parking and maneuvering easier while the safe exit assist features the power sliding doors with an alarm if there is a vehicle coming from behind.

The Kia Carnival is offered in Thailand in three variants: Limited, EX, SXL.

Price is at THB฿2,045,000, THB฿2,144,000, and THB฿2,495,000 respectively.
