Following its name change and updated logo, Kia America announces the launch of its sports sedan — the 2022 Kia Stinger Scorpion Special Edition.
The South Korean carmaker touts the special Stinger as a limited-edition four-door sports car saying that it will be offered in “limited batches of just 250 units per month.” The 2022 Kia Stinger Scorpion Special Edition will be built “exclusively” for the US market added the automaker.
It will feature an exclusive blacked-out fender garnish, side mirror caps, darkened exhaust tips, and a unique body-colored rear spoiler. In addition, Kia’s sports sedan will also ride on distinctive 19-inch black wheels.
The cabin will also feature exclusive carbon fiber-pattern trims with the option of a Red Nappa Leather or Black Nappa Leather interior finish.
“Stinger was a wake-up call to a segment long populated by European sport sedans when it debuted in 2017 (as a 2018 model). It redefined what enthusiast drivers thought about Kia and proved we could compete against the best vehicles in a hotly contested space. Since then, Stinger has built a loyal following of those looking for something unique and the Scorpion is set to continue that approach,” said Kia North America and Kia America President and CEO Sean Yoon.
The souped-up 2022 Stinger will be offered in rear-wheel-drive (GT2 RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants. It can be had in three colors: Snow White Pearl, Aurora Black, and Ceramic Silver.
The RWD variant is priced at $52,585 while the AWD variant has a price tag of $54,785.
Sadly, we’re not going to get the not-so-limited Stinger Scorpion Special Edition here in the Philippines. Nevertheless, we get our own version of the Stinger with a fastback design, a Lambda 3.3 T-GDi engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, with lots of toys inside the cabin.
Kia Philippines' locally available Stinger has a sticker price of P3,235,000.
