Kia sells more than 2.6-M cars globally from Jan.-Sep. 2023

Kia has sold a total of 2,611,938 vehicles globally from January-September this year.

Per the South Korean car brand, 468,835 of these were handed over to its domestic customers while 2,138,508 were sold to its overseas clients. In addition, 4,595 units sold were marked as “special purpose vehicles,” which include light to heavy tactical military automobiles as well as small to large public utility vehicles.

When compared to the numbers posted by the Hyundai-owned brand in the same time period last year (2,410,909), it reflected an 8.3-percent increase. Broken down, its domestic sales grew by 7.3 percent (436,790 units) while its overseas sales jumped to 8.5 percent (1,971,310 cars).

As for its “special purpose vehicles” sales, it skyrocketed to 63.6 percent (2,809 units).

Entering the final quarter of the year, Kia posted a total sales of 257,709 vehicles for the month of October. Of which, 42,960 units were sold in Korea while 214,139 cars were sold overseas. Its “special purpose vehicles” sales for the month of October is 610 vehicles.

Revealing its best-selling units globally, Kia noted that the Sportage sport utility vehicle (SUV) was its top model so far followed by the Seltos and the Sorento.

The overseas market also sang to the same tune with the Kia Sportage and the Seltos leading Kia’s domestic sales. Sitting in third place was the K3, which is also known as the Forte here in the Philippines.

In Korea, on the other hand, the Kia Sorento was the Seoul-headquartered brand’s top sales driver. It was followed by the Ray crossover utility vehicle and the Sportage SUV.

“Kia will continue to build its sales momentum with the launch of the new K5 sedan and Carnival MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) models. Kia’s EV brand proposition will be further strengthened with the new EV9, the company’s flagship vehicle, and first three-row electric SUV, soon to be rolled out across global markets,” Kia wrote in a press statement.

Locally, Kia’s offerings include passenger vehicles like the all-new Sorento, all-new Carnival, Stonic, Soluto, Seltos, and the all-electric EV6. Also available is its light commercial model, the K2500.
