The Kia Stinger is the South Korean carmaker’s entry to the Philippine sport sedan segment. The Stinger competes with the likes of the Toyota Supra, Nissan GT-R, and the Honda Civic Type R.
On the fence about getting yourself a Kia Stinger? Join us to get to know more about Kia’s mid-size sport sedan contender.
The Kia Stinger is no doubt a looker. According to Kia, the Stinger’s design was inspired by Gran Turismo legends hence its fastback body type, long hood, muscular haunches, and stylish spoked wheels.
The front end sports the brand’s iconic Tiger Nose grille flanked by bi-function projection LEDs with dynamic bending. It also has LED DRLs, LED position lamps, GT-design front and rear bumpers, LED rear combination lamps, and an LED high-mount stop lamp integrated on the Kia Stinger’s rear spoiler.
It also rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.
The Philippine-spec Stinger is equipped with a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 GT engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with shift-by-wire control. Its powertrain setup makes a respectable power output of 365 horses and has a maximum torque of 510Nm.
The Kia Stinger claims to reach 100kph from a standstill at only 4.9 seconds.
Complementing the engine is a five-drive mode select allowing drivers to get the most of their driving experience based on the terrain, weather, and driving condition.
The interior of the Kia Stinger has enough room for the driver and the passenger sitting in the front row, but those at the rear — especially if you plan to sit three adults — will find that they could use a little more space.
The Kia Stinger is a sports sedan which means that most of its mechanical components were not exactly designed for comfort. That said, the ride quality you get from the Stinger is much stiffer than the average sedan.
The Kia Stinger is not going to be everyone’s cup of tea. It’s marketed to those on the market for a sporty and a powerful ride.
Kia Philippines is selling the Kia Stinger in a single variant and is priced at P3,235,000.
