Kia announced that it will stop producing its known four-door sports car Stinger and shared the details of its limited-run version.
To be called the Kia Stinger Tribute Edition, the exclusive iteration of the high-performance sedan will be limited to 1,000 examples around the world.
“The Stinger Tribute Edition denotes an important chapter in the story of Kia’s high-performance ethos. Featuring an exclusive color and interior trim never before seen on the sedan, it also serves as a fitting celebration of the Stinger’s contribution to the Kia brand," Kia Senior Vice President and Head of Purchase CX Design Sub-division Chang Sung Ryu was quoted as saying.
Built on the nameplate’s 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 GT specification, the Kia Stinger Tribute Edition shall come in Ascot Green and Moonscape matte gray body colors.
Further, black finish is seen on the housing of the exterior mirrors, Brembo brake calipers and 19-inch wheels.
Welcoming occupants inside the cabin are the bespoke Terracotta brown leather that covers the seats, steering wheel, door side trim and door handles. It complemented the carbon-effect finish applied on the console upper cover and the door panels.
The Kia Stinger Tribute Edition features a wasp-shaped emblem that is embedded into the headrest of the seats.
The application of a numbered door sill plate on the driver’s side provides authentication of exclusivity, boasting that only 1,000 units will be built globally.
“As we enter a new age of mobility, Kia will satisfy the needs of customers who seek to enjoy elevated levels of dynamic driving pleasure through high-performance electrified models such as the EV6 GT. And the brand’s strategy to continue accelerating the development of innovative electrification technologies will ensure that sustainability and strong performance combine effortlessly under the Kia badge,” the executive added.
Meanwhile, the Korean automotive marque guaranteed that its high-performance spirit will continue through its GT models.
To note, Kia Philippines (under the Ayala-led AC Motors) brought in the Stinger in April 2019, during the 2019 Manila International Auto Show. The local-spec Kia Stinger, as of writing, is still being retailed for P3.235 million.
