Kia to offer six exciting hues for the Stonic

Ayala-backed Kia Philippines President Manny Aligada has announced during a virtual roundtable meeting that their forthcoming subcompact crossover , the 2021 Kia Stonic, will be offered in the following six hues:

• Flash yellow and black,
• Flame orange and black,
• Clear white and black,
• Extreme Blue,
• Prime Red, and
• Clear white

While we await for the color assignments per variant, the local arm of the Korean already mentioned earlier this month that the Stonic top-of-the-line variant wears two-tone color options, meaning the first three is only meant for the (EX six-speed AT). This variant has an pre-launch price tag of P875,000.

The other solid colors, which still shows vibrant shades for the Kia Stonic, will likely be shared by the mid-range LX six-speed AT and the base model LX five-speed MT. These two have an introductory price of P785,000 and 675,000 respectively.

These lively hues are set to target the young audience, which Aligada is the target market of the European-inspired Stonic. 

Earlier, Kia Philippines Product Strategy and Planning Director Josh Altarejos said that they have decided to launch the Stonic following their observation that the trend in the local market has shifted to subcompact SUVs over the course of years.

“We would also be under the consideration of other adjacent market such as the subcompact sedan,” Altarejos said.

Within their own stable, the 2021 Kia Stonic is positioned between the Rio (which has a price range of P850,000- P915,000) and Seltos (pegged at P1.048 million to P1.485 million).

First unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017, the Kia Stonic displays a European design language from its designer Peter Schreyer.

But it is not all aesthetics, as it is also capable of traversing the urban jungle with its  1.4 liter, four-cylinder, engine with Dual Continuous Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT) that delivers 93 horsepower (hp) in manual variant and 99 hp in the automatic option.

It also has occupant-friendly features that millennials will surely love such as the eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system—compatible for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay—mated to six audio speakers, among others.

Its safety features include Reverse Parking Sensor, Hill Start Assist and Electronic Stability Stability Control fitted in the EX grade.

Just like all other model offerings in the Kia lineup, the Stonic is packaged with up to five-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty and a 24/7 Roadside Assistance free for five years that covers Emergency Towing, Personal Assistance, Minor Onsite Repair, Medical Assistance and Information Service.
