Kia has unboxed its latest electric vehicle offering, the EV 5 compact sport utility vehicle (SUV).

Per Kia, the Chinese market wil first get the EV5 compact SUV.Per the South Korean carmaker, the Kia EV 5 is an SUV that “seamlessly blends transformative design, exceptional versatility, and outstanding comfort to deliver a harmoniously balanced vehicle.”
Further, it said that “every attribute of the EV5 has been designed and engineered to provide the flexibility required by modern families and enhance their enjoyment on every journey.”
At the fore, the Kia EV5 boasts a wide nose and solid bonnet that combine to make a sleek digital Tiger Face grille. Further enhancing the front exterior design, the EV5 incorporates three-dimensional Signature Star Map Lighting formed by daytime running lights.
To its side are powerful fenders and wide shoulder lines that create a solid and unique quarter silhouette. The pushed-back D-pillars further highlight the Kia EV5’s family-friendly practicality, accentuating the spaciousness of the rear seat and the trunk while providing a wide field of visibility.
The rear of the Kia EV5 features an extended and lowered spoiler that maintains the SUV’s distinctive profile while improving aerodynamic efficiency and signifying the EV5’s status as a ground-breaking electric vehicle. Additionally, it has an extensive lower skid plate that further emphasizes the EV5’s rugged and protective nature.
“The Kia EV5 was created to redefine the compact SUV genre with a form shaped by Kia’s unique design philosophy ‘Opposites United.’ At every stage, Kia’s designers have worked closely with their engineering colleagues to create a holistic solution for sustainable mobility. As a result, the EV5 sets a new standard for design, performance, and practicality while providing new levels of driver enjoyment and user experience,” commented Kia Global Design Center Head and Executive Vice President Karim Habib.
Not much was discussed in the way of the Kia EV5’s interior but the Hyundai-owned brand said it offers its award-winning new generation connected car Navigation & Cockpit (ccNC) controls. The technologically advanced ccNC system is accompanied by additional features such as heater controls for the SUV’s seats and personalized mood lighting.
Also, pictures show that it will have a modular rear space, a sunroof, and a seamless screen that integrates both the instrument cluster and the infotainment system.
Kia will launch the EV5 during the latter half of 2023, initially in China, and will unveil further product details at the Kia EV Day — an event dedicated to the brand’s EV lineup and vision.
