Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has
officially revealed the all-new Toyota GR Supra, making it the first locally-retailed Supra in the country.
The
A90 or Mark V is the comeback-kid Supra that is
first global Toyota Gazoo Racing model, with all units being manufactured at the
Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria.
"Bringing the legendary Supra here is something we have always wanted to do, and we are positive that there are countless Toyota fans out there who share the same enthusiasm," said
TMP First Vice President Cristina Arevalo. "The Supra, above and beyond, embodies Toyota's pledge of making ever-better cars."
The local version of the all-new Toyota GR Supra has a
twin-scroll turbocharged, in-line six-cylinder, 3.0-liter engine mated to an
eight-speed automatic transmission. This is said to be capable of dishing out
335 hp and
500 Nm of torque. Making it more fun is that it retained its
front-engine, rear-wheel drive lineage.
Balance is the key as the chassis and body frame enjoy a
50:50 front-rear weight distribution to achieve optimum cornering performance.
The all-new Toyota GR Supra is also equipped with
Adaptive Variable Suspension. At the front are fitted
double joint-type MacPherson Strut, while the rear comes with a
Multi-Link suspension.
The Supra features a
Limited Slip Differential and
ventilated disc brakes. Its high body rigidity, low center of gravity, and aerodynamics all combine to give the driver ultimate driving speed and precision.
Aesthetically, the all-new Toyota GR Supra exudes its true colors, with its athletic stance, which is referred to by Toyota engineers as the
'Condensed Extreme.'
The coupe sits on
19-inch forged aluminum wheels, with custom-made tires by Michelin.
For its interior, the Philippine variant comes purely in black, with
muted carbon accents for an understated luxury feel. The
Alcantara sports seats are equipped with lumbar support and
eight-way power memory adjust, and the
three-spoke leather steering wheel has both manual tilt and telescopic adjust for optimum ergonomics.
The all-new Toyota GR Supra has a
narrow-sectioned dashboard that offers
expansive forward visibility. The vehicle intuitively assists its driver in focusing on the road through an
advanced Heads Up Display (HUD) plus
responsive Paddle Shifters, complemented by an
8.8-inch TFT-LCD Multi Information Display.
It also sports an
8.8-inch TFT LCD touchscreen display with
Bluetooth and USB connectivity that can blast music with its
12-speaker, High-Fidelity surround sound system powered by JBL.
Safety features include seven SRS airbags, three-point Pre-tensioner and Force Limiter seatbelts, as well as Traction Control, Vehicle Stability Control, and an Anti-Lock Brake System.
As we earlier reported, prices of the all-new Toyota GR Supra starts at
PHP4.990 million for the famous Prominence Red hue up to
PHP5.050 million for the White Metallic, Silver Metallic, Lightning Yellow, Deep Blue Metallic, Ice Gray Metallic, and Black Metallic.
