KTM beefs up 1290 Super Adventure R’s navigation system for 2023

The KTM 1290 Super Adventure R gets an upgraded navigation system for 2023, said the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer.

Per the Mattighofen-based brand, the 2023 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R has enhanced Turn-by-Turn+ guidance and has the ability to set waypoints and diversions using the motorbike’s handlebar switch dial as well as on its display screen.

“No need to prop the bike and fish around for the phone that engages the KTMConnect APP; everything — including phone call answering and logging top ten ‘favorites’ — can all be done with a dab of a finger,” KTM said in a press release.

The 2023 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R, however, retains most of the features that make it a reliable adventure bike including the 160-horsepower LC8 engine, which slimmed by 1.6 kilograms.

It is paired with a 23-liter three-piece tank with an improved heat system to disperse temperatures out and away from the rider.

Another familiar feature of the 2023 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R is the advanced Bosch 6D lean angle sensor that informs much of the bike’s behavior and a myriad of settings through Motorcycle Traction Control, Motorcycle Stability Control, various “Ride Modes,” and its anti-lock brake system.

Further evidence that the latest iteration of the motorbike is primed for traction is the 48-millimeter (mm) WP Xplor suspension, featuring split cartridge forks, and the modifiable rear shock with 220mm of travel.

The suspension funnels the maximum level of feedback through the Alpina aluminum spoked wheels with an improved sealing system appropriate for tubeless tires. The 2023 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R rides on Bridgestone AX41s tires as standard.

Facing the rider is a seven-inch thin-film-transistor display screen.

The 2023 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R has been allocated to KTM Authorized dealers in major markets since December 2022, the motorcycle firm said. The motorbike, however, is not yet listed on KTM Philippines’ website at the time of writing.
