Lamborghini Gets Creative with Huracán Sterrato Concept
Automobili Lamborghini spreads its wings to uncharted territory with the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato, an unconventional concept that combines the super sports allure of the V10 Huracán and off-road prowess of the Urus Super SUV. The result is a super sports car that can take on rough terrain with enough speed and agility to make powerful pickup trucks green with envy.
Based on the Huracán Evo, the Sterrato uses the same 5.2-liter naturally aspirated engine that delivers 640 hp. The concept also espouses the Huracán Evo's Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) with predictive logic control, using it to control various off-road systems including four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, modified suspension, and torque vectoring.
Calibrated for off-road driving and tuned to maximize traction and acceleration, the LDVI system pushes the engine to produce torque. Furthermore, with the help of LDVI, the Sterrato can anticipate the next moves of the driver to ensure perfect driving dynamics.
Designed for demanding environments, the super sports car framework immediately conveys the Sterrato's commanding off-road abilities. Ground clearance is heightened by 47 mm, with the car's front approach sharpened by 1 percent and the departure angle enhanced by 6.5 percent.
The underbody comes with various added reinforcements for added strength and protection. Specially-developed larger tires improve the car's asperity absorption and grip. An off-road LED light package that includes a roof-mounted LED light bar and LED bumper lights with flood function help ensure that visibility is never an issue.
Inside, the interior trim has been customized to reflect the car's combination of sportiness and off-road versatility through its use of a new lightweight titanium roll cage, four-point seatbelts, aluminum floor panels and new carbon bi-shell sports seats.
"The Huracán Sterrato illustrates Lamborghini’s commitment to being a future shaper: a super sports car with off-road capabilities, the Sterrato demonstrates the Huracán’s versatility and opens the door to yet another benchmark of driving emotion and performance," said Maurizio Reggiani, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Lamborghini. "Lamborghini’s R&D and design teams are constantly exploring new opportunities and delivering the unexpected as a core characteristic of our DNA, challenging possibilities while inspired by Lamborghini brand heritage."
