The Lamborghini Urus is the brand's top-selling nameplate for 2022.The Sant’Agata Bolognese-based automaker said that the aforementioned number is 10-percent higher compared to the previous year. Automobili Lamborghini credited the strong sales performance to its roadmap and strategy that it has been employing.
Automobili Lamborghini enjoyed sales growth of 14-percent in Asia; 10-percent in the United States (US); and seven percent in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. The increasing number of dealers (from 173 to 180 in a span of 12 months) worldwide that is present in 53 countries also helped the brand reached the high volume of vehicle sales last year.
US remains to have the highest number of units sold (2,721 car delivered); followed by Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau (1,018 cars turned over to customers, 9-percent rise over previous year); Germany (808 cars delivered, 14-percent growth compared to 2021), United Kingdom (650 cars delivered, up by 15-percent over 2021) and Japan (546 cars delivered, 22 percent higher than the previous year).
Further, the Urus is Automobili Lamborghini’s best-selling nameplate for 2022, selling 5,367 units for the full 12 months (seven percent more compared to 2021). Taking the second and third spots were the Huracan with 3,113 examples rolled out to buyers (20-percent increase over 2021), and the Aventador (which reached the end of its production in September 2022) with 753 units delivered.
“Our trend of growth and development continues, and this shows that our direction is sound, and our choices are on the mark. This is the product of well-defined collective assessments that can produce consistent and concrete results. We have been able to carefully and meticulously manage an extraordinary order intake, pursuing a clear strategy with the primary objective of maintaining controlled growth to protect the exclusivity of our brand,” Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkelmann said.
“2023 is going to be a year of challenges and changes that we are ready to confront by always pushing ourselves beyond. We now have the opportunity to focus on our next objectives also thanks to an 18-month waiting list, which enables us to look to the future and the upcoming goals with confidence,” he added.
Moreover, Automobili Lamborghini shared that a further acceleration of the trajectory will take place in 2023, when the first hybrid cars will be produced and Lamborghini enters the second phase of our Direzione Cor Tauri program: a strategic roadmap unveiled in 2021 that involves the highest-ever investment in the company’s history (1.8 billion euros over five years) delivering the hybrid transition and subsequently the transition to fully-electric vehicles.
