Lamborghini reveals Lanzador concept car
Automobili Lamborghini has revealed its purely electric concept car intended for production: the Lanzador.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What powers the Lanzador concept car?
The Lamborghini Lanzador is equipped with high-performance electric motors on both axles, creating an all-wheel drive system that has active e-torque vectoring at the rear. When will Lamborghini release the Lanzador's production model?
Lamborghini will release the Lanzador's production model in 2028.Per the Raging Bull marque, the concept model is a 2+2 UItra GT with a high ground clearance that “stays true to Lamborghini’s unmistakable DNA.” The company also claimed that it has the best-in-class dynamics and a fun-to-drive character through an electric powertrain.
Exterior
The exterior of the concept car features grand touring proportions offering space within a spaceship-inspired styling. It features taut clean lines that shows its Lamborghini heritage.
Further, the firm said that the vehicle resembles Lamborghini's legendary models such as the Sesto Elemento, Murcielago and Countach LPI 800-4.
Interior
Inside, the concept vehicle follows the “feel like a pilot” design philosophy.
“It takes the idea of a 2+2 GT but moves that a step forward, creating a 2+2 lifestyle concept where the rear space of the cabin can also be used for carrying all sorts of sports equipment or luggage. A trunk is concealed under the short and steeply sloping hood, while the large glass tailgate opens wide. Adjustable rear seats and a variable luggage compartment in the rear make the concept car adaptable to almost any everyday situation,” Lamborghini explained.
Aside from that, the Lamborghini Lanzador’s cabin comes with sustainable materials — all of which came from Italy. The dashboard, seats and door panels are made up of Australian Merino sheep — imported to Europe only once a year to reduce carbon footprint. The stitching is made of regenerated nylon, and recycled plastic and fibers. The carbon on the center console and door panels is composed of a new, two-layer composite material. The leather is dyed with water sourced from olive oil production.
Powertrain technology
Showcasing the latest representation of Lamborghni’s “Direzione Cor Tauri” strategy toward decarbonization and electrification, the Lanzador is the further evolution of the new V12 plug-in hybrid-powered Lamborghini Revuelto.
The Lamborghini Lanzador is equipped with high-performance electric motors on its axles, creating an all-wheel drive system that has active e-torque vectoring at the rear.
Further, the vehicle fitted with a newly-developed Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) driving dynamics control system that utilizes more sensors and actuators, leading to improved algorithms. The technology, Lamborghini explained, allows its software to better control the behavior of hardware for more precise driving dynamics.
“More sensors behind the new 'pilot’s' glass panels at the front of the car herald future radar technology,” the supercar manufacturer noted.
In addition, the Lamborghini Lanzador comes with active aerodynamics, air suspension, rear-wheel steering, electric torque distribution, and Lamborghini’s Wheelspeed Control. The aforementioned systems raise the Lanzador’s driving behavior from a super sports car with a combustion engine.
The production model that will be derived from the Lamborghini Lanzador will be manufactured at the Sant’Agata Bolognese site in 2028.
