Lamborghini Temerario breaks cover

Lamborghini has presented the Temerario — successor to the Huracán — at the annual Monterey Car Week in California, United States.

Joining the Lamborghini Revuelto and Urus SE, the Temerario packs a hybrid powerplant and expands the Italian carmaker’s new-energy vehicle roster.

“With the Temerario, we’ve exceeded our expectations with what the mid-engine sports car can be in terms of performance and design,” Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkelmann stated.

“The Temerario completes the next chapter in our Direzione Cor Tauri plan by hybridizing the full product line, while we continue the development of our full electric model debuting at the end of the decade,” he added.

Lamborghini has fitted the Temerario with a new twin-turbo V8 hybrid engine with three electric motors. The said setup is capable of putting out some 907 horsepower and can reach speeds up to 340 kilometers per hour (kph). It can zoom from a standstill to 100 kph in 2.7 seconds.

Per the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based brand, the hybrid mill has been designed from scratch. It is the first and only production super sports car engine able to reach 10,000 revolutions per minute — a feat, which Lamborghini pointed out, is only achieved in motorsports.

“The Temerario is a genuine ‘fuoriclasse’: a car in a league of its own, an extraordinary and innovative vehicle both from a technical and stylistic point of view,” Winkelmann explained in a different press release.

“Every new Lamborghini must surpass its forerunners in performance terms, while at the same time being more sustainable from an emissions standpoint. With the Temerario, we have completed a key chapter in the electrification strategy included in our Direzione Cor Tauri plan: we also become the first luxury automotive brand to offer a completely hybridized range,” he concluded.

The Lamborghini Temerario is yet to go on sale. More details about the hybrid super sports car will be revealed soon.
