Automobili Lamborghini has reached a new milestone with the Urus super sport utility vehicle after completing its 20,000th unit recently.
In a statement, the supercar manufacturer said that the 20,000th Urus will be on its way to a customer in Azerbaijan. The crossover is in Viola Mithras with black calipers and panoramic roof.
The company estimates that all the Lamborghini Urus examples sold around the globe covered more than 360 million kilometers.
To note, the 10,000-production milestone was achieved in the middle of 2020.
“From the first moment we presented the Urus concept at Beijing motor show in 2012, to its market debut in 2018 and each year since, the Urus has proved its instant and continued appeal as a true Lamborghini, born from our super sports heritage and the world’s first Super SUV, the LM 002,” Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkelmann was quoted as saying.
“The Urus is a perfect complement to our super sports model ranges, providing a luxurious and high-performance daily drive for those who identify with our authentic Italian brand,” he added.
Automobili Lamborghini noted that its headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese has grown exponentially since it started producing the Urus.
As shared on the same statement, its factory doubled in size from 80,000 to 160,000 square meters and has put up Lamborghini Manufacturing 4.0 — an innovative approach to production technologies to support assembly-line workers.
Further, more than 500 permanent new staff were hired from 2015 to 2018 for the Urus project. Aside from that, the vehicle producer inaugurated the Urus paint shop in 2019.
Powering the Lamborghini Urus is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers a peak churn of 650hp and 850Nm torque, allowing the vehicle to accelerate 0-100 kph in 3.6 seconds (or up to 200kph in 12.8 seconds) and can go as fast as 305kph.
Moreover, Automobili Lamborghini said that the Urus’ most popular exterior Ad Personam colors are Grigio Telesto, Blu Cepheus, Viola Pasifae, Nero Noctis Matt (Graphite) and Arancio Borealis (Pearl).
It was in June last year when Lamborghini Philippines launched the Urus locally.
