Lamborghini's presents 'Telemetry X' project
Automobili Lamborghini has showcased its latest concept that is targeted to be used in its future sports cars.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
When and where did Automobili Lamborghini use the telemetry system in its car for the first time?
Lamborghini first used the telemetry system on the Huracán STO in 2020.What technologies can be found in Lamborghini's Telemetry X project?
Lamborghini's Telemetry X comes with real-time remote garage (remote coaching), biometric data system, and digital co-pilot technologies. The track connectivity project — dubbed the “Telemetry X” — was highlighted at this year’s Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
“Innovation is at the core of our DNA, as we have recently demonstrated with the Revuelto, a super sports car that is groundbreaking in every way, and the Lanzador fully-electric concept car. In the near future, our supercars will increasingly offer not just thrills but truly immersive driving experiences,” Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkelmann said.
“Telemetry X is a perfect preview of the connected services our customers will be able to experience in the coming years,” he added.
To recall, the telemetry system was first used on the Lamborghini Huracán STO back in 2020.
With Telemetry X, the automaker could be offering a track driving experience with the following systems: real-time remote garage (remote coaching), biometric data system, and digital co-pilot.
“Telemetry X is a clear demonstration of how experience gained in motorsport can find applications for road-going super sports cars, with the aim of maximizing our customers’ experience on the track as well,” Lamborghini Chief Technical Officer Rouven Mohr was quoted as saying.
“It’s no coincidence that we chose the Revuelto as the testbed for this technological demonstrator, a car that is totally unique precisely because of the introduction of breakthrough technologies.”
Under the remote garage web application, drivers can record their on-track performance and telemetry at all times. Aside from that, a coach can monitor the driver through live data and images so that it can send suggestions during the driving session anywhere in the world.
The biometric data system, on the other hand, checks the driver’s biological measurements such as heart rate and stress level to allow more in-depth performance monitoring and provides useful references on how they can refine their training.
Lastly, the two systems are synergized with the digital co-pilot — a proactive voice assistant that compares both biometric and vehicle data to give feedback to the pilot while driving on the track. The firm said that the technology analyzes lap times and provides pointers for improving racing lines and braking points, as well as information on the performance of the car on the track.
