Lamborghini’s ‘The Real Race’ back for 2nd run

Italian luxury sports car maker, Lamborghini, announces the return of “The Real Race” following the success of the company’s global esports competition last year.

For its second season, Lamborghini takes the races to another level, bringing the races to a global level and adding an upgraded regional format. Designed to be even closer to the community and players, the new arrangement of the race event will see three tournaments happen across Europe, America, and Asia.

According to Lamborghini, The Real Race’s second season will run from June to November. Each week, players will have to sign up for the open qualifiers, running weekdays Monday to Friday. The top 40 players from the open qualifiers go to the closed qualifier that happens every Saturday.

Finally, the top 20 participants from the closed qualifiers will enter The Real Race on Sunday, where they will be competing twice on the same track. The 10 weekly qualifiers for each region will offer participants the chance to earn points for their respective regional ranking and climb the ladder to become the next regional winner.

The Real Race 2021 prize pool will include a track experience with the Lamborghini Squadra Corse and a VIP experience at Lamborghini Headquarters as well as a chance for the top one player of each regional ranking to become a Lamborghini Official Sim driver.

Players joining this year’s The Real Race will be driving the Huracán GT3 EVO, Lamborghini’s Daytona 24 Hours three-time winning super sports car. Lamborghini’s Centro Stile, the carmaker’s in-house design department, has created an exclusive race livery. The “skins” are customizable in 12 different versions, with each car displaying the trademark logos of partners: Kaspersky and Assetto Corsa Competizione.

“esports is a field where we want to play a major role,” said Lamborghini Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Federico Foschini.

He added, “The Real Race is a six-month-long event that allows players to live the thrill of true competition through the preparation and participation in races against some of the best sim racers in the world. We’re proud to host this competition and to offer The Real Race’s winner the opportunity to live a real-life immersive experience in the world of Lamborghini and be provided with the prospect of a career in esports.”

The Grand Prix will take place in some of the most iconic circuits around the world including the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Italy, the Laguna Seca Raceway in the US, the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in South Africa, North Holland’s Circuit Zandvoort, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain, the Silverstone Circuit in England, and again in Italy at the Misano World Circuit.

An Endurance Mode will be held in the famous tracks of Suzuka in Japan, Nürburgring in Germany, and in the Belgian Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

This is Lamborghini’s biggest esports venture yet and is a display of the Italian super sports car maker’s support and commitment to the esports scene. Lamborghini has signed partnerships with major gaming brands in the esports scene including “Rocket League” and “Asphalt 9: Legends” following Lamborghini’s successful digital competition last year.
