Land Rover’s arm in the United States has announced the return of the Defender Trophy Edition, a special, limited-run version of the marque’s flagship four-wheel-drive off-road sport utility vehicle (SUV).
According to Land Rover USA, only 220 units of the Defender Trophy Edition will be made for the US and Canada markets. It is based on the Defender 90 P400 X-Dynamic SE and brings with it a host of exterior and interior appointments that will make the unique Defender capable of conquering the beaten path.
These features include a classic heritage yellow finish and the Extended Black Pack which adds a blacked-out “DEFENDER” lettering and grille.
Even more important, of course, are the combination of brains and brawn under the hood. Air Suspension Pack (electronic air suspension and adaptive dynamics), Cold Climate Pack (heated windshield, heated washer jets, and heated steering wheel), and Advanced Off-Road Capability Pack (all-terrain progress control and terrain response) provide the Trophy Edition with enough power to tackle just about any obstacle.
And for good measure, it also comes with a tow hitch, a winch, and the Expedition Roof Rack.
“The Defender Trophy Edition continues to embrace the spirit of adventure while honoring Land Rover’s rich and iconic heritage. We look forward to welcoming our Defender Trophy Edition customers to put these vehicles to the test at the exclusive adventure competition, while experiencing the breadth of capabilities inherent to the Defender,” said Jaguar Land Rover North America President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Joe Eberhardt.
In addition, those opting to get the limited-edition Defender Trophy Edition can get a two-person invitation to participate in the off-road US Trophy Competition at the Land Rover Experience Center in Manchester, Vermont.
Participants of the US Trophy Competition will receive coaching from trained experts before putting their off-road driving and teamwork skills to the test behind the wheel of their Defender vehicles.
The winning two-person team will move on to the final, ultimate adventure competition in the U.K. This competition in the spiritual home of Land Rover testing and development will take place in 2023.
And while the Defender Trophy Edition will not be available here in the Philippines, fans of the brand can still get a taste of the iconic four-wheel-drive off-road SUV. Locally available variants include the Defender 90, Defender 90 S, Defender 90 SE, and Defender 90 HSE. Prices of the Philippine-spec Defenders start from P5.79 million.
