Landslide caused by 'Fabian' forces closure of Kennon, 2 other roads
Two roads in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and in Region 4-B (MIMAROPA) are now closed to traffic after the rains brought by Typhoon Fabian and the southwest monsoon affected the major thoroughfares.
According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Kennon Road, in Camp 5, Tuba, Benguet was closed to traffic due to rock fall while access to the Abra-Kalinga Road, in Gacab, Malibcong, Abra was barred due to soil and rock collapse.
Aside from that, the Calapan North Road (CNR) in Barangay Aninuan, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro is also impassable due to a landslide.
DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said that they are conducting clearing operations in CNR while other teams in CAR are on standby to resume clearing affected road sections once weather is deemed safe for the crew and equipment.
