Following the erring certification for its side impact collision test, the Toyota Raize HEV had undergone another testing — this time done by Daihatsu itself.
In a statement, Toyota said that Daihatsu conducted an in-house collision test for the aforementioned model to guarantee its safety performance as well as address the concerns of customers who use the model.
Based on the test done last May 24 at the Daihatsu Shiga Technical Center, the company said that the Toyota Raize HEV met the legal standards.
However, Toyota noted that the test has not yet been confirmed by the certification authority.
“The necessary procedures for shipment and sales resumption of the Toyota Raize will be implemented, such as conducting tests in the presence of certification authorities and confirming other certification items in consultation with the authorities,” the company added.
Earlier, both brands admitted that the Raize Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) was improperly certified in the UN-R135 test. This followed the rigged test result with the Yaris Ativ (more known as the Vios in the Philippines).
As of May 19, a total of 56,111 Raize HEV units were delivered around the world since sales began in November 2021. On the other hand, Daihatsu sold 22,329 examples of the Rocky HEV for the same period globally.
