Latest Nueva Ecija farm-to-market road now open
The agricultural and economic activities are expected to pick up in Nueva Ecija after the latest farm-to-market road was recently completed.
A project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the newest 1.6-kilometer road Barangay Balaring in the municipality of General Mamerto Natividad will soon provide better access to nearby markets for their vegetables, mangoes, and rice products.
In his report, DPWH Nueva Ecija Second District Engineer Ricardo Puno noted that the newly-completed road includes concreting of a two-lane road costing to about P12.9-million funded under the 2020 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
Public Works and Highways head Mark Villar commended Puno for the immediate completion of the project despite challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Not only do we aim to improve road condition to support local producers but also to ensure safe travel for motorists and residents traversing this local road,” the public works secretary was quoted as saying.
