Lawmaker gives motorcycles to MMDA to aid riding academy initiative
Senator Juan Edgardo Angara has turned over 10 units of motorcycles to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to express his support to the agency’s Motorcycle Riding Academy.

The Academy will be open starting September 27.To open on September 27, the Academy is aimed to provide formal training in both theoretical and practical aspects of motorcycle riding and basic emergency response while getting a deeper understanding about road courtesy and discipline, as well as traffic rules.
The signing of the deed of donation acceptance of the units — conducted at MMDA Head Office in Pasig City — were led by Angara and MMDA Chairman Romando Artes. Also in attendance were MMDA Deputy Chairman Undersecretary Frisco San Juan Jr. and General Manager Procopio Lipana.
After receiving the vehicles, Artes expressed his gratitude for the newly-given motorcycle units.
Moreover, the MMDA chief acknowledged Angara’s contributions on the agency’s projects that include the purchase of 50-seater air-conditioned ferry boats to supplement the current fleet of the Pasig River Ferry Service; procurement of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and garbage traps; and enable the necessary funding for the expansion of the agency’s Communications and Command Center.
For his part, Angara — who is the Senate Committee on Finance chair — assured that he will continuously support the MMDA’s budget.
“Every year, hindi kayo mababawasan at madadagdagan pa ang inyong budget. Asahan po ninyo ang tulong natin bilang Chairman ng Senate Committee on Finance dahil kinikilala po natin ang dagdag-ginhawa at benepisyo na ibinibigay ng inyong ahensya sa Metro Manila (Your agency’s budget will not be reduced and instead receive increase every year. Expect my help as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance because we recognize the added comfort and benefits that your agency provides to Metro Manila),” Angara said.
