Lexus announced recently that it will be updating the RX 350L and RX 450hL mid-size SUVs. The updates include new paint options (Cloudburst Gray and Iridium) and available fog lamps as a standalone option.
Toyota’s luxury brand will also be making smartphone vehicle integration and their respective virtual assistants standard across all RXL models.
The eight-inch and the optional 12.3-inch dashboard display will now have optimized settings for smartphone integration.
Android-powered smartphone users can now enjoy a simplified interface, larger touch targets, and easy-to-use voice actions through Google Assistant when using the infotainment unit. Common messaging apps like WhatsApp, navigation systems like Google Maps, as well as music and streaming services like Spotify, will also be available, said Lexus.
Likewise, iPhone users can also enjoy a similar experience when using the Lexus Multimedia System touchscreen unit as the luxury carmaker makes Siri, Apple Maps, Podcasts, and Audiobooks available through Apple CarPlay. Moreover, third-party apps like Spotify can also be accessed.
Lexus also incorporates voice service integrations so owners can access their preferred services, play music, check the news, and control smart home devices through voice-activated programs like Amazon Alexa.
Dynamic Voice Command will be available for the 12.3-inch multimedia system with split-screen multimedia display functionality.
In addition to the technological updates, Lexus also reinforced the safety features of the RXL with the Lexus Safety System+ 2.0. The system includes features like daytime bicyclist detection and low-light pedestrian detection as well as Road Sign Assist (RSA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Pre-Collision System (PCS), and Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
Driving dynamics have also been improved with both the front and rear stabilizer bars now made hollow to reduce weight. The stabilizers are also made thicker and now have reinforced bushings and reduce body roll and improve steering response.
A new friction control device is also added to the dampers to control high-frequency vibrations for a smoother ride.
