Limited-run Mini John Cooper Works GP now in PH
British automotive marque Mini has brought the new Mini John Cooper Works GP to Philippine shores, its local counterpart announced.
In its statement, Mini Philippines said that all six units of the limited-edition—the fastest model for the brand—is currently being offered in the country.
Mini Philippines General Manager Jeff Lizardo expressed confidence over the performance of the newly-unveiled offering. “The new MINI John Cooper Works GP is a rarity with racing genes and sets new benchmarks for performance in the premium compact car segment,” Lizardo said.
"Due to overwhelming interest in the months leading up to its arrival, all six units in Philippines are now reserved. With only 3,000 units being produced at MINI Plant Oxford, the 306 horsepower four-cylinder turbocharged engine accelerates the two-seater model from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds,” he added.
This limited run model has a price tag of P4.8 million.
Mini Philippines is one of the automotive brands under the Autohub Group of Companies. headed by the capable leadership of its President, Willy Tee Ten.
The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology is matched to an eight-speed Steptronic sports transmission with integrated mechanical differential lock for the front wheels.
To cut more drag, the latest offering has further lowered the suspension by 10 mm compared to the MINI John Cooper Works, and its stopping power can handle the speed it provides, thanks to its high-performance sports brake system.
Further, the John Cooper Works GP wears model-specific exhaust system that generates an emotionally powerful sound.
Inside, the new MINI John Cooper Works GP dishes that pure sports car flair. Fitted in as standard are John Cooper Works sports seats in Dinamica/leather combination with silver side edges, red accent seams, red belt straps and a GP badge underneath the integrated headrests.
The plush Nappa leather steering wheel wear accents produced using the 3D printing process—complementing the red accent seams and 3D-printed metal paddle shifters.
Reminding the owner of its exclusive package, the new MINI John Cooper Works GP comes standard with tech features such as the automatic climate control and the Wired package that includes telephony with wireless charging.
Moreover, the standard trim also has a five-inch digital instrument cluster on the steering column. A GP logo is permanently shown at the top of the screen.
