The Lite Ace will be utilized in the partnership between Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) and two local government units in the Philippines.
The newly-forged collaboration entails providing the City Government of Santa Rosa in Laguna and City Government of Pasay in Metro Manila free shared transportation via the Toyota Community Shuttle (TCS) — an on-demand, shared service that will be delivered via digital interface.
Under the agreements, TMP will provide the two local government units with five Lite Ace units each. The vehicles will run on flexible routes within city boundaries.
Per TMP, the free rides will run in a span of 12 months beginning next month (December 1 in Santa Rosa City and December 2 in Pasay City).
“TMP is offering the TCS as part of the Company’s corporate social responsibility and in commemoration of TMP’s 35th anniversary. Through TCS, TMP aims to contribute to improving the quality of life in these communities by providing free, easier, smarter and safer mobility,” TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto was quoted as saying.
The TCS’ booking service will be delivered via the “myToyota Shuttle PH” application, which is under Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines, TMPS’ mobility service arm.
Accessible via downloadable mobile device application, the “myToyota Shuttle PH” lets commuters book their rides, monitor the real-time location, and check the arrival time of the TCS unit. It also optimizes route planning and seat booking.
“We want to create positive social value in our beneficiary communities through the provision of free mobility. But the TCS is not only helpful in creating a hassle-free ride experience for commuters. It also complements the current efforts of our project beneficiaries towards becoming a smart city and 'sustainable eco-city’ through increased connectivity and mobility, among others,” Okamoto added.
Last August, TMP celebrated its 35th year and reaffirmed its commitment to economic and societal development through its automotive manufacturing and distribution business and mobility-related services.
Launched last year, the Toyota Lite Ace is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that is mated to five-speed manual transmission.
