Looking sharp: Honda Airblade 150 Black Edition

Honda Airblade150

In these times where the roads are filled with Honda PCX150 and Yamaha Nmax run the streets, Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI) made sure that they are filling their stable with formidable scooters, with it being the easiest mode of transportation when traffic is way heavier with the absence of number coding scheme in Metro Manila.

Launched last year, two months short before lockdown was implemented, the Honda Airblade 150 got attention of many after executives decided to put the scooter with local artists Coco Martin and Yassi Pressman as the endorsers.

But is the Honda Airblade 150 just hype or will it perform hotly just as how the endorsers were welcomed by their fans? Let’s take the Honda Airblade 150 Black Edition for a spin.

Dimensions

For the usual below six-feet-tall passengers, the Honda Airblade 150 Black Edition would be the perfect size. Not faring away from the longer-yet-thinner Honda Click 150i, the 1,870 millimeter (mm) long, 686 mm wide is a good ride if you want to squeeze in through tight traffic.

Standing 1,112 mm high with a 773 mm seat height, the Honda Airblade 150 Black Edition will definitely give its riders a firm position on standstill. Although the seat seems to benefit those who are relatively small and thin, it has room for pillion riding.

Aesthetics

Sharing the same design with the Click150i and the highly-sought ADV150, the Honda Airblade 150 Black Edition wears pointy twin LED headlights at the front fascia for that sporty and trendy look. The turn signals are perfectly fitted within the front fascia design, complementing the overall dagger look.

Throw in that marriage of Matte Galaxy Black Metallic with a gold color runner for this certain variety and you have a more sophisticated looking hue as compared to its competitors.

Brought around the metro, this scooter had been mistaken for the ADV150.

Engine

Powering the Airblade 150 Black Edition is a 150cc four-stroke, SOHC, liquid-cooled engine, which it shares with the Honda PCX. This engine offers good numbers in terms of fuel efficiency and throttle response.

Speaking of efficiency, the Airblade 150 Black Edition was able to put up more than 40 kilometers per liter reading, especially when the traffic is light.

Features

It has tons of nifty features for such a relatively small package. For better efficiency rating, idling stop system to make every ride sip little fuel especially during traffic, 14-inch tires that (90/80) that add to better fuel efficiency ratings. This AT motorcycle could use wider tires for better traction given that it has the same engine with the PCX but on lighter frame.

The Honda Airblade 150 Black Edition has disc brakes in front and drum brakes in the rear for that assured stopping power.

Further, the Honda Airblade 150 Black Edition has been made future=proof as it also equipped with a digital meter panel, a park brake lock, a smart key with answer back system and an anti-theft alarm—the same features found in the higher-tiered models.

Moreover, the 22.7L storage under the seat is large enough to fit full-faced helmets and enough room for the rider’s personal belongings.

Another good thing with this bike is that it has 12V power socket to charge your mobile device while on the run—just make sure you know your route as you cannot see the phone while in transit.

Conclusion

The Honda Airblade 150 Black Edition has the bells and whistles to run sharply with the crowd of the bigger-bodied counterparts and stablemates. Although at a price of P109,000, this compact ride might be running somewhere in the middle of the pack.
