LTFRB to Cancel Franchise of Transport Strike Participants
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Tuesday, October 17, said that they will be canceling the franchise of those who participated in the two-day transport strike.
Board member Aileen Lizada confirmed that they will be canceling the franchise of those who joined for violating the LTFRB MC 2011-004 (Terms and Conditions of Certificate of Public Convenience).
"All those who participated in the two-day strike, I-ka-cancel po ang prangkisa nila and based on our initial number for today, we got around 21 vehicles; 16 may prangkisa, five ang expired. (We will cancel All those who participated in the two-day strike. And upon our initial tally, we got around 21 vehicles; 16 has existing franchise while five are expired),” Lizada said.
She also added that they have yet to release the final number of participants as they need to coordinate with enforcers
Citing the said order, Lizada said that the "holder of the franchise cannot suspend, cease or stop operations as a sign of protest or objection to any government or decision."
However, Lizada clarified that they will conduct a hearing on the cancellation of the franchise.
