LTFRB issues resolution to cut red tape

ltfrb new resolution to cut red tape

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a new resolution to help spur the settlement of cases and reduce illegal activities in the agency.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How can the new resolution speed up the settlement of cases and cut red tape in the agency?

According to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the new resolution will allow the LTFRB Legal Division Chief sign and approve all the orders or resolutions for the Inspection Report Summons apprehension cases that are not contested by the respondents.
  • What cases have been added to the expanded list of Inspection Report Summons (IRS) apprehension cases?

The agency said that colorum violations as well as presenting fake Certificate of Public Convenience, Official Receipt or Certificate of Registration, plates, stickers, and tags, have been added to the existing IRS apprehension cases.
  • Under Board Resolution No. 008 Series of 2023, the LTFRB Legal Division Chief is now allowed sign and approve all the orders or resolutions for the Inspection Report Summons apprehension cases that are not contested by the respondents with the exception of cases involving failure to produce a Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) or Evidence of Franchise during the time of apprehension.

The agency’s new resolution also includes cases such as colorum violation as well as fraud and falsities like presenting fake CPC, Official Receipt (OR) or Certificate of Registration (CR) plates, stickers, and tags.

According to the LTFRB, the decision to issue the new resolution is part of the division’s promise to follow Republic Act 11032 or the “Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.”

We included colorum and fake CPCs in the list of IRS (Inspection Report Summons) apprehension cases because the commuting public deserves it. By expanding the list of IRS apprehension cases, it also helps the Board reduce the level of case resolution backlogs for speedy delivery of service, which is what RA 11032 is all about,” said LTFRB Chairman Atty. Teofilo Guadiz III.
