LTFRB: Stop Using Tricycles as School Service
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) wants to ban the use of tricycles as school transport service vehicles, and they will request the Metro Manila Council (MMC) about its implementation. LTFRB board member Atty. Aileen Lizada said that her office will write a proposal letter regarding the matter.
The council, which falls under the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), comprises 17 metro mayors, 32 congressmen, and eight other stakeholders from various branches of the government. The council will meet on June 22. It is yet unclear whether the banning of tricycles for school use will be among the issues discussed.
The move follows the government regulatory board's new requirement that schools use only accredited bus services for their field trips and off-campus excursions.
