LTFRB Suspends TNCs’ PHP50 Cancellation, No-Show Fees
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) called for a dialogue with representatives from various Transport Network Companies (TNCs) to discuss a new TNC policy of imposing Cancellation and No-Show fees amounting to PHP50 to passengers who cancel their bookings five minutes after being assigned to a driver and to those who fail to show up at the pick-up point within five minutes after a driver’s arrival.
The meeting was led by LTFRB Chairman Atty. Martin B. Delgra III along with Board Members Gen. Antonio N. Gardiola, Jr. (Ret.) and Engr. Ronaldo F. Corpus on Monday, May 6, 2019, at the LTFRB Central Office. Among those in attendance were representatives from RYD, OZTECH, OWTO, HYPE, Grab, Hirna, E-pick Me Up, MICAB, GoLAg, iPARA, and OWTO.
While the LTFRB is looking into this policy, the agency also takes into consideration its mandate to ensure the protection of the interest of its most important stakeholder, the riding public. The LTFRB is mandated to ensure that Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) charge reasonable fares.
The Board and TNC representatives agreed to create a Technical Working Group (TWG), which will be headed by Board Member Gardiola, to address new fare policies and other issues concerning TNCs and Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS).
