LTO commences nationwide MV registration caravan
Following the announcement last month, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has commenced its nationwide motor vehicle registration caravan.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
When did LTO commence its nationwide registration caravan.
LTO’s registration caravan began last Saturday, December 9.How many vehicle registrations were recorded in the first few hours of the caravan in Quezon City?
Per LTO, it recorded a total of 24 delinquent motor vehicle registrations in just the first few hours of the caravan in Quezon City.Aimed at “encouraging” the owners of some 24.7 million unregistered vehicles, the said initiative looks to help those with expired registrations — estimated to be at least 65 percent of the vehicles in the Philippines.
“Sa pagsasagawa ng motor vehicle registration caravan, ipinapakita ng inyong LTO na hindi lang kami puro enforcement. We are also finding ways to make our services fast and comfortable like this program, which is designed to bring the services of the LTO closer to our clients (by conducting the motor vehicle registration caravan, the LTO shows that we are not just about enforcement. We are also finding ways to make our services fast and comfortable like this program, which is designed to bring the services of the LTO closer to our clients),” said LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Attorney Vigor Mendoza II, who was in attendance at the National Capital Region leg of the caravan.
In Quezon City, specifically at the back of the SM North Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) in Barangay Lipunan where Mendoza was present, the LTO recorded a total of 56 license driver’s license renewals and 24 delinquent motor vehicle registrations — in just the first few hours.
“May mga kababayan kasi tayo na nasa trabaho mula Lunes hanggang Biyernes at hindi makahanap ng oras para magpa-renew ng lisensya dahil busy sa trabaho at sayang din naman nga ang kikitain (we have people who are at work from Monday to Friday and cannot find time to renew their license because they are busy with work and it is a waste of money),” Mendoza explained.
“Sa pamamagitan ng caravan, they will be given the opportunity to renew their driver’s license at a time na wala silang pasok sa trabaho, at ang LTO pa mismo ang lalapit sa kani-kanilang lugar (through the caravan, they will be given the opportunity to renew their driver's license at a time when they are not at work, and the LTO itself will come to their respective areas),” he added.
To further aid those with expired registrations, the LTO put up priority lanes for delinquent motor vehicles.
“We expect more vehicle owners to register their motor vehicles in the coming days because of this motor vehicle registration program that will be implemented across the country,” the LTO Chief Assistant Secretary stated.
