The LTO distributed some 3,000 license plates to address its backlog.Per the agency, it has already distributed some 3,000 license plates to tricycle drivers in the city, allowing the LTO to address its backlog for registered three-wheelers that ply the roads of Quezon City.
“With all the license plates already distributed to all tricycles being used in public transport in Quezon City, your LTO will presume that tricycles with no license plates but are being used in transporting passengers in Quezon City are colorum, or operating illegally,” LTO Assistant Secretary Attorney Vigor Mendoza II said in a press statement.
According to the country’s land transport department, the implementation of the said policy is in line with Republic Act No. 4136, Section 18 or the “Use of Number Plates,” which sets the rules for the proper number plate use.
“Layunin nitong tiyakin ang kaligtasan at kaayusan sa kalsada sa pakikipagtulungan sa Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Quezon City (Its purpose is to ensure road safety and order in collaboration with the City Government of Quezon City).” the agency said in a Facebook post.
