LTO Set to Revise Procedure on Driver’s License Issuance
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is set to revise the procedure in acquiring a license to ensure that drivers are competent and disciplined.
LTO-Region 9 Director Atty. Aminola Abaton said the agency seeks to "standardize the requirements for its training and education."
Abaton said he currently heads the technical working group tasked to draft the criteria on the changes in the issuance of driver’s license.
"There will be changes in the procedure in the issuance of student permit and drivers’ license," he added.
He said the revised requirement will include the mandatory 15-hour theoretical instruction course on traffic rules and regulations, and a manual on Filipino drivers.
Non-professional drivers' license holders, he said, must secure a certification from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to be able to acquire a professional license.
He said the revision in the procedure in the issuance of diver's license will address the issue on the lack of disciplined drivers.
