Mahindra Thar Roxx breaks cover

The Mahinda Thar Roxx for the Indian market has been unveiled.

According to the Mumbai-based car brand, its new sport utility vehicle (SUV) is built on the all-new M-Glyde platform. Would-be owners will have the choice of selecting a Mahindra Thar Roxx fitted with either a 2.0-liter gasoline engine or a 2.2-liter diesel powerplant.

The gasoline-fed engine makes some 174 horsepower (hp) with 380 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque while the diesel-powered mill dishes out 171 hp with 370 Nm of pulling power.

Both engine options are available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

With Thar Roxx, we’re not just elevating the SUV experience — we’re setting our sights on making the Thar brand the number one SUV by volume within the next three to five years,” Mahindra & Mahindra Limited Automotive Division President Veejay Nakra stated.

Outside, the Mahindra Thar Roxx boasts a bold front grille with bi-led projector headlamps and C-shaped daytime running lights. It rides on 19-inch alloy wheels accompanied with rugged cladding.

Inside, it gets leatherette upholstery and soft-touch materials, double 10.24-inch screens, a Harman Kardon sound system with QuantumLogic surround technology, Wireless Carplay, Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, and wireless charging.

In terms of technology, the Thar Roxx also gets advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS) like automatic emergency braking, a 360-degree surround-view camera, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.

With standout features such as a panoramic Skyroof, advanced Level 2 ADAS, and Harman Kardon branded audio, the Thar Roxx redefines the ownership experience, setting new benchmarks in luxury and safety,” Mahindra & Mahindra Limited Automotive Technology and Product Development President R Velusamy said.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx will be sold starting October 30. It is priced from P870,309-P1.372 million.
