The Swift Hybrid is equipped with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This is a much more advanced system compared to the 12V start/stop system that is equipped on the Maruti Baleno, Maruti Ertiga, and the Maruti Ciaz.

The 48V unit in the Swift Hybrid is paired with a 1.2-litre K12C petrol engine that is capable of putting out 90 hp and 118 Nm of torque. This, combined with the extra power from the hybrid motor, totals at about 103 hp and 148 Nm of torque. Suzuki offers a 5-speed AMT transmission with this version of the Swift. Globally, this 48V hybrid system was introduced with the 1.4-litre Boosterjet petrol engine.
The hybrid setup consists of a 48V lithium-ion battery, an integrated starter generator, and a 48V-12V converter. The Swift Hybrid manages about 32 km/l.

With Maruti pulling the plug on diesel powertrains, this petrol hybrid system should come in handy for people who do a lot of driving. Maruti Suzuki can also get the first-mover advantage as the only mass-market car that offers this technology is the much bigger MG Hector. As of now, there is not much news about the introduction of this unit in the Indian market, but it sure will be a welcome addition to the current Maruti lineup.
