Maserati MC20 makes an appearance at 2021 Monterey Car Week
Maserati’s MC20 mesmerized attendees of the Monterey Car Week’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance event.
The Italian super sportscar made its Northern California debut before crowds of fans on the Concept Lawn. The introduction of the new mid-engine, two-seater sports car marks a new era for the Trident brand.
It brings with it an impressive resume with accolades including the “Best of the Best” at the 2021 Red Dot Awards, “Performance Car of the Year” at the 2021 China Car of the Year Awards, “Most beautiful supercar of the year 2021” at the Festival Automobile International, and was named British GQ's “Super Sports Car of The Year.”
The MC20 previously also appeared at Auto China 2020 and the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2021 in England.
During its attendance in the Pebble Beach Concept Lawn, the Maserati MC20 wore the same clean black and white look. Its exterior, says Maserati, was developed by the Maserati Innovation Lab using one of the world’s most advanced dynamic simulators — the Virtual Vehicle Dynamics Development system.
Thanks to this method, the MC20 boasts a clean seamless design that emanates luxury and sophistication with a touch of sportiness.
Powering the MC20 is a V6 MTC twin-turbo engine that can produce 621 horses and 730Nm of torque. The powerful mill is mated to Maserati’s own eight-speed DCT gearbox.
This powertrain setup promises a top speed of 326kph, and allows it to go from zero to 100kph in 2.9 seconds and from standstill to 200 in just 8.8 seconds. Stopping power comes from six-piston Brembo caliper brakes at the front coupled with four-piston ventilated disc brakes at the MC20’s rear.
It’s no secret that the MC20 is the successor of the legendary MC12. And with the MC20’s powerful engine, the racing heritage of Maserati will surely be kept alive.
Maserati’s halo car will start production later this year, said the automaker.
