Mazda is set to unveil the Philippines’ first-ever CX-90 within the week.
The model’s arrival was confirmed in the form of a formal invitation sent to Carmudi Philippines. The invitation followed the Mazda Philippines President Steven Tan’s announcement last June about the nameplate’s arrival in the country.
Based on the digital invitation, the unveiling will be held on Friday (September 22).
Aside from being the Mazda CX-60’s bigger version, here are some details and possible features that customers could enjoy from the soon-to-arrive model.
The Philippine-spec Mazda CX-90 could likely be having the same engine options as those seen in the United States: a mild-hybrid e-Skyactiv-G 3.3-liter turbo inline powertrain matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission, or a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine modified to operate with an electric motor and 17.8 kilowatt-hour battery.
On paper, the mild-hybrid version can deliver a peak output of 340 horsepower while plug-in hybrid delivers 323 horses. Both powertrains, Mazda USA shared, can dish out 500 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.
Technologies like the Kinematic Posture Control (first fitted on the Mazda MX-5) and i-Activ all-wheel drive are expected to be available in the arriving sport utility vehicle. Aside from that, the vehicle could also come with smart brake support, blind spot monitoring, Mazda radar cruise control, among others.
Mazda Philippines has yet to share pertinent details about the arriving model, so keep your eyes peeled on the website for more information about the incoming model.
