Mazda PH brings in mild-hybrid tech for CX-30, Mazda3
As part of its 2022 Premium Collection, Mazda Philippines has equipped mild-hybrid powertrains for the coming year models of the CX-30 and the Mazda3.
Called as the e-Skyactiv-G M Hybrid, the configuration — composed of DC/DC converter, an integrated starter generator (ISG), and regenerative friction brake coordination system and new 24-volt M Hybrid Lithium-Ion battery — will be powering the 2.0-liter powertrains both found in the aforementioned offerings.
The e-Skyactiv-G M Hybrid engine and battery system harvests energy with its regenerative braking technology to power the vehicle’s on-board electronics. Aside from that, a motor then assists the engine accelerate from standstill for a smoother drive.
“The use of this recovered energy, along with automatic engine shut-off at decelerating speeds below 20kph, lessens demand on the engine and increases vehicle mileage per tank of fuel. With the e-Skyactiv-G M Hybrid, Mazda customers not only realize a smoother drive, but also achieve phenomenal fuel savings and lower emissions without having to worry about plugging in or charging,” Mazda Philippines shared in a statement.
The 2022 Mazda CX-30 M Hybrid still has the same amenities like full red leather seats, 12-speaker Bose sound system, as well as LED adaptive front-lighting system, 360-degree view camera, and 18-inch black gloss wheels for its exterior.
The latest version of the CX-30 has also retained the i-Activsense features namely Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Smart Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, and Rear-Cross Traffic Alert. Worse comes to worst and the vehicle figures in an accident, the 2022 Mazda CX-30 can protect all vehicle occupants with its seven airbags.
“For 2022, the Mazda CX-30 moves up to deliver an even more efficient and well-rounded driving experience,” Mazda Philippines President Steven Tan said.
“In line with Mazda’s global initiatives, we see the introduction of the 2022 CX-30 e-Skyactiv-G M Hybrid as the first step for us to participate and be relevant partners in achieving the brand’s goals. All while keeping with the high-level of quality and premium finish our customers have come to expect from Mazda.”
The 2022 Mazda CX-30 M Hybrid is priced at P1.99 million.
Meanwhile, the 2022 Mazda3 has dropped the 1.6-liter engine and replaced it with the 2.0-liter power mill that can be found on both Fastback and Sedan body types. This setup can deliver 162hp and 213Nm torque.
Further, the non-hybrid option is still available for both body types. These non-M-Hybrid options can deliver 153hp and 200 Nm of pulling power.
All variants of the 2022 Mazda3 get a 12-speaker Bose Sound System.

The 2022 Mazda3 roster is offered in the following prices:
- Mazda3 2.0L (Fastback and Sedan Sport): P1.495 million
- Mazda3 2.0L (Fastback and Sedan M Hybrid): P1.695 million
All these new offerings come with the standard Five Years Free Service Plan.
