Mazda Philippines has unboxed the latest addition in its BT-50 lineup.
Dubbed the BT-50 4x2 AT Black Edition, the latest offering is set to further enhance the styling of Mazda’s pickup truck.
In a statement, the company said that the nameplate’s signature three-dimensional wing grille now wears a gloss-black finish, giving the vehicle a more elegant look. It is complemented by the new similarly-colored 17-inch wheels wrapped in 255/65 R17 highway-terrain tires.
The company also said that the Mazda BT-50 4x2 AT Black Edition is fitted with standard LED front lighting, power folding side mirrors, side step boards, a bedliner, and the new tailgate assist to make loading and unloading of cargo easier.
Inside, the Mazda BT-50 4x2 AT Black Edition is tailored with black leather seats with gray accents and contrast stitching, and “Black Edition” logos debossed on the front headrests. Its steering wheel and armrest are wrapped in black leather to enhance the cabin’s ambiance.
Further, the Mazda BT-50 4x2 AT Black Edition also features tilt/telescopic steering wheel and seats made from low-rebound MDI polyurethane material.
In addition, the pick-up truck also comes with rear air-conditioning vents, touchscreen infotainment system that has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a six-speaker system, and remote engine start.
Powering the BT-50 4x2 AT Black Edition is a 3.0-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder engine generating 187 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. The mill is paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The vehicle’s safety technologies include dual airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control with traction control, hill start assist, and hill descent control. On the other hand, driver assistive features consist of a reverse parking camera with back-up sensors, among others.
“After the launch and success of the Mazda BT-50 4x4 Pangolin Edition 2, we listened to customer feedback and decided to offer a value-oriented package for the BT-50 4x2, befitting Mazda’s premium positioning. The introduction of the Mazda BT-50 4x2 Black Edition builds on the strong foundation of our well-received pickup truck by answering the desire of pickup truck buyers who see the BT-50 as a versatile lifestyle vehicle. Above all, it further elevates our sporty style as shown by our other Black Edition models, particularly, the CX-9,” Mazda Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Steven Tan was quoted as saying.
With six color options (Ice White, Ingot Silver Metallic, Concrete Gray Mica, Rock Gray Mica, Red Volcano Mica, and Gun Blue Mica) to choose from, the Mazda BT-50 4x2 AT Black Edition is priced at P1.43 million (similar to the standard BT-50 4x2 AT variant) that comes as a factory-installed, no-cost option for the first 50 customers.
Just like every brand-new Mazda model in the country, the pick-up truck is packaged with a five-year free service plan that covers the expenses of periodic maintenance at either six-month or 10,000-kilometer intervals, for up to five years or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. The offer is on top of a three-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.
To note, the latest version of the Mazda BT-50 in the country, which is considered the twin of the Isuzu D-Max (also available locally), was launched in 2021.
