Mazda reveals North-Am-market CX-70

Mazda has unveiled the CX-70 for the North American region.

Per the Japanese carmaker, the new five-door crossover sport utility vehicle was developed largely with its North American customers in mind. As such, it comes with features selected to attract consumers in the said market.

For instance, the Mazda CX-70 is fitted with hybrid powertrains. One is a plug-in hybrid variant while another has the brand’s M Hybrid Boost system with a 48-volt mild-hybrid technology.

The former — Mazda noted — combines a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine and electric motor while the latter integrates the M Hybrid Boost into a 3.3-liter inline six-cylinder turbo-charged gasoline engine.

These powertrains are said to dovetail with Mazda’s efforts to accelerate electrification in North America in a manner that appropriately meets market needs.

In doing so, Mazda “seeks to balance outstanding environmental performance with the pleasure of driving at will.”

Outside, the Mazda CX-70 has a sporty exterior and dons dynamic front and rear bumpers, newly designed 21-inch aluminum wheels, and distinctive black components.

Inside, the crossover SUV gets a burgundy base that creates both brilliance and depth, and underscores the cabin that is an expression of the active lifestyle.

Further, the Mazda CX-70 comes with a power remote fold function, which with one push of the rear hatch, folds down the second row of seats for additional cargo space. Thus, the expanded cargo area offers a flat floor that extends to the rear hatch.

In addition, the Mazda CX-70 comes with three underfloor storage compartments for personal items and other gear. This personalized space — the camaker stated — is an enhancement that can enable its customers to “easily organize their active lifestyle.”

The Mazda CX-70 will go on sale in springtime (from March to May) in the United States and Canada.
