Mazda to introduce Toyota Yaris-based Mazda2 Hybrid in Europe
In a recent press release, Mazda Motor Corporation announced that it plans to bring the Mazda2 Hybrid in Europe. The Euro-spec Mazda2 Hybrid models are based on Toyota’s Yaris Hybrid supermini and will be supplied by Toyota Europe.

According to Mazda, the Mazda2 Hybrid is expected to be introduced in Europe in March of next year.Mazda entered a partnership with Toyota in 2015. Under the basic agreement for a business alliance between both Japanese carmakers, Toyota and Mazda collaborate in various fields, including advanced technologies, a joint venture plant, and sales finance.
One of the results of this partnership is the Toyota Hybrid System, used in the hybrid version of the Yaris and now, the Mazda2 Hybrid.
The Mazda2 Hybrid offers the nimble handling of a compact car, a high-quality ride, a comfortable cabin, and the latest safety technology. Furthermore, the model is powered by a hybrid system with an in-line three-cylinder 1.5-liter engine and boasts low fuel consumption as well as a powerful, seamless driving experience.
Mazda said that the vehicle will join Mazda’s European lineup in March of next year.
Price and other specifications are yet to be announced.
Here in the Philippines, Mazda’s hybrid offerings include the Mazda3 and the Mazda CX-30. They are priced at P1,495,000 and P1,790,000, respectively.
