Mazda unveils all-new CX-50 for US market

According to Mazda, production will begin in January 2022.“This new Mazda vehicle has been developed for North America, particularly to support the active and outdoor lifestyles of customers in this region. The all-new CX-50 will expand Mazda’s lineup while maintaining key attributes expected from Mazda vehicles.
Outside, the all-new CX-50 marries the brand’s striking Kodo design with an outdoor-capable presence that respectfully interacts with the surroundings.
The off-road-oriented SUV features a blacked-out grille, black wheel arches, front and rear bumpers, as well as black and silver wheels. A new panoramic moonroof, a first for Mazda, helps the occupants feel more connected to nature.
The CX-50 will also debut new color options, such as Zircon Sand exterior paint and an available terracotta interior color.
Backing its rugged appearance is a capable power plant. The all-new CX-50 will come in either Skyactiv-G 2.5 naturally aspirated engine or Skyactiv-G 2.5 Turbo engine mated to a six-speed automatic tranny.
In the coming years, the CX-50 will also be offered with electrified powertrains, including a traditional hybrid model.
Mazda says that the seating materials were inspired by technical, modern outdoor gear and create a welcoming atmosphere fitting for both adventurists and those just starting their journey into an active lifestyle.
The all-new Mazda CX-50 will be built at the new Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) plant in Huntsville, Alabama, with production beginning in January 2022.
