McLaren Automotive, Lockheed Martin Skunk Works to explore futuristic design methods

McLaren Automotive has announced that it will team up with Lockheed Martin Skunk Works to explore futuristic design methods for automobiles.

According to the British luxury supercar and hypercar maker, the project will focus on using a new Skunk Works design system — developed for the world of aviation — for designing high-performance and cutting-edge cars. The pioneering software, McLaren added, sets the parameters for high-speed systems more accurately and swiftly than traditional design methods.

Scientists and engineers from McLaren will work alongside counterparts at Skunk Works to test and explore how this cutting-edge technology could be employed commercially in the automotive design world.
