Before being LTO chief, Mendoza served in the former board member of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and as congressman under 1-United Transport Alliance Koalisyon (1-UTAK) partylist.In the list shared over the Presidential Communications Office’s Facebook page, Mendoza has been hailed as the new LTO assistant secretary, taking over the position vacated by Jose Arturo Tugade, and currently occupied by the agency’s officer-in-charge Hector Villacorta.
Prior to his new position, Mendoza was a former board member of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and has also served as a representative for the 1-United Transport Alliance Koalisyon (1-UTAK) partylist.
It can be recalled that it was only last month when Villacorta (who is the concurrent Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary for Communications and Commuter Affairs) took over the post that Tugade left after saying that he and Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista had “varying methods” in serving the public.
To recall, Mendoza was dismissed by then President Joseph Estrada in 1999 after the former lifted the moratorium on processing of public utility buses applications. However, the decision was recalled by the Palace.
