Mercedes-AMG unveils SL 63 ‘Motorsport Collectors Edition’

Despite a not-so-spectacular run, Mercedes-AMG — the carmaker’s high-performance division — has decided to make the SL 63 “Motorsport Collectors Edition” to mark the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season.

According to the German automotive brand, the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 “Motorsport Collectors Edition” reflects the look of the Mercedes-AMG F1 W13 E Performance racing car.

Features that link the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 “Motorsport Collectors Edition” and the Mercedes-AMG F1 W13 E Performance racing car include its high-tech silver metallic and obsidian black metallic paint, the star pattern on the vehicle flanks, and the Petronas-colored trims on the front apron, side sill panels, and rear diffuser.

The Mercedes-AMG SL 63 “Motorsport Collectors Edition” rides on 21-inch AMG 10-twin-spoke forged wheels in a matt black finish with Petronas-colored rim flanges. The car’s electric soft top is finished in black.

Available for the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 “Motorsport Collectors Edition” is the AMG Aerodynamics package, which adds larger flics on the front and rear aprons, a larger rear diffuser, and an active profile in the underbody.

Meanwhile, the available AMG Night package and the AMG Night package II take the vehicle’s visuals to another level. With the aforementioned appearance packages, select exterior appointments of the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 “Motorsport Collectors Edition” receive high‑gloss black or black chrome treatment.

Inside, the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 “Motorsport Collectors Edition” feature seats that can either be finished in black Nappa leather with Microcut microfiber, red topstitching, and embossed AMG emblem in the head restraints; or black Nappa leather with Microcut microfiber, yellow topstitching, and embossed AMG emblem in the head restraints.

Both seat finishes go well with the heated AMG Performance steering wheel with carbon-fiber rim.

Further, Mercedes-AMG equipped the SL 63 “Motorsport Collectors Edition” with Burmester high-end 3D surround sound system, ambient lighting, the MBUX Interior Assistant, the Driving Assistance package, and the head-up display as standard.

Would-be owners looking to take the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 “Motorsport Collectors Edition” to the track will enjoy the AMG Track Pace, which provides support with a wide range of data when driving on the racetrack.

Those looking to get the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 “Motorsport Collectors Edition” can expect to receive a customized AMG indoor car cover with logo. Pricing is yet to be announced, although Mercedes-AMG confirmed that the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 “Motorsport Collectors Edition” will be limited to only 100 units globally.
