Mercedes-Benz adds 2 models to all-electric SUV lineup
Mercedes-Benz just announced that it will be expanding its EQA portfolio by adding two new models to the successful family of all-electric compact SUVs.
Joining the EQA 250 are the EQA 300 4Matic and EQA 350 4Matic models. The German luxury automotive brand also said that a version with a particularly long range will follow later in the year.
Both all-wheel-drive models will be outfitted with an asynchronous motor (ASM) at the front and permanently excited synchronous motors (PSM) at the rear. The EQA 300 4Matic boasts a maximum power output of 225hp while the EQA 350 4Matic generates 288hp. Torque peaks at 390Nm for the EQA 300 while the EQA 350 peaks at 520Nm.
Mercedes-Benz said that the front and rear motors work in synchrony, promising high power density, high efficiency, and high output consistency.
The EQA 300 4Matic and the EQA 350 4Matic have similar WLTP consumption figures of 17.5 kWh/100km. This gives the EQA 300 an estimated WLTP range of 400 to 426km while the EQA 350 around 409 to 432 km.
Standard equipment on both EV SUVs includes LED high-performance headlamps with adaptive high beam assist, “easy-pack” tailgate with electric opening and closing, 18-inch light-alloy wheels, ambient lighting with 64 colors, double cup holder, luxury seats with four-way adjustable lumbar support, reversing camera for greater overview and convenience when maneuvering, and a multifunction sports steering wheel in leather.
Also included are the intuitively operated MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system and the Navigation with Electric Intelligence system.
Customers can also get three “equipment packages” as an optional add-on.
The first is the Advanced Package, which includes two 10.25-inch displays that merge to form a widescreen cockpit. In addition, owners who purchase the Advanced Package can also get driver-assist features like blind-spot assist, the Mirror Package, and the Parking Package with reversing camera.
Next is the Advanced Plus Package, which adds the Keyless-Go convenience package, a Thermotronic two-zone automatic climate control, an audio system delivering impressive sound, and wireless smartphone charging.
Last is the Premium Package, where customers can enjoy premium amenities like a panoramic sliding sunroof, the Burmester surround sound system, and the Parking Package with a 360-degree camera.
There’s also an Electric Art Package that adds rose gold accents in the upholstery and the air vents, back-lit trim elements, and special 18-inch light-alloy wheels.
