Mercedes-Benz EQS to be launched in PH
Mercedes-Benz shall add the EQS sedan to its electric vehicle (EV) offerings in the Philippines.
Based on an invite sent to Carmudi Philippines, the premium electrified sedan will be formally introduced to the local market on January 16, 2024.
While waiting for the Inchcape Philippines-led company automotive distributor to bare the official details about the model, here are some of the specifications abroad that could also land in the upcoming model’s brochures.
According to the Three-Pointed Star’s arm in the United States, the Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan — which is around 5,265 millimeters (mm) long, 2,126 mm wide, and 1,511 mm tall with a nearly 3,211 mm wheelbase — is equipped with either a single or dual permanently excited synchronous motor (PESM) in a rear-wheel-drive setup.
The single PESM version option has the capacity to dish out 329 horsepower and 565 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque that lets the car cover 100 kilometers per hour (kph) from standstill in around six seconds. On the other hand, the dual PESM can do 751 hp and 1,020 Nm — allowing it to run zero-100 kph in around four seconds.
The power that propels the purely-electrified offering comes from the 10.4 kilowatt-hour capacity battery pack.
Depending on the trim, the Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan can cover up to 563 kilometers.
Just like the Mercedes-Benz EQA, EQB, and EQS that are already retailed in the Philippines, the arriving model is expected to wear a black panel with a company logo pattern with a huge emblem placed in the middle of the front fascia. Both front and rear illumination systems are said to be all on LED.
Further, the soon-to-be-offered model could be rolling on 20-, 21-, or 22-inch wheels. However, Carmudi Philippines believes that the Philippine-spec Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan could be running on 21-inch multi-spoke wheels similar to the ones being worn by the models released locally.
The foreign-marketed Mercedes-Benz EQS features a luxurious interior as expressed in the intuitive touch interfaces and driver-centric dashboard design.
Last year, Mercedes-Benz Philippines brought in the EQA 250 Electric Art, EQB 250 Electric Art, EQE 300 Electric Art, and EQE 350+ AMG Line to mark its entry in the local premium EV arena.
