IC Star Automotive Incorporated — Mercedes-Benz’ distributor in the Philippines — has introduced the latest addition to the marque’s EV lineup, the EQS.
Dubbed “The Pinnacle of Sustainable Luxury”, the Mercedes-Benz EQS is the first model under the Three-Pointed Star marque that was created on a modular design.
Although touted as the S-Class’ full-electric counterpart, the Mercedes-Benz EQS boasts an electric architecture of its own.
For its exterior, the EQS sports a one-bow design, thanks to its coupe-like roof line, the arc above the vehicle down to the rear. Aside from that, the vehicle sports a short nose and a one-piece aluminum clamshell hood. The fluid design is matched by the seamless door handles with chrome inserts and the 21-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels.
In front of the vehicle is the piano black panel radiator trim with three-dimensional Mercedes-Benz pattern. In addition, the Mercedes-Benz EQS features a panoramic sliding roof.
Illuminating the road are the digital light with ultra range high beam that adapts to the driving situation such as available lighting on the road, traffic situation, road condition, and even weather. Meanwhile, the rear lights have internal mechanisms shaped like a curved 3D helix joined by a light band.
Inside, the Mercedes-Benz EQS is slapped with a 56-inch curved display called the MBUX Hyperscreen. The said set-up is composed of the 12.3-inch OLED screen on the driver side, 17.7-inch display in the middle, and another 12.3-inch screen for the front passenger.
On its dashboard is the 56-inch curved display called the MBUX Hyperscreen made up of 12.3 OLED screen on the driver side, 17.7-inch infotainment system display in the middle, and another 12.3-inch monitor for the front passenger. The Wireless Apple CarPlay- and Android Auto-ready infotainment system also has a 15-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound system.
A wireless charging dock was also outfitted into the vehicle.
For the rear passengers, two 11.6-inch displays with touch controls are mounted on the backrests of the driver and front passenger seats alongside an MBUX rear tablet (a fully-fledged tablet that can also be used outside the vehicle).
The car’s cabin has an active ambient lighting made up of 190 light-emitting diodes that can emit up to 64 different hues. The system works visually with the MBUX voice assistant and recognizes the position of the person speaking.
Dishing out power for the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC is the electric powertrain with all-wheel-drive system. The said mill can deliver up to 360 horses which allows the vehicle to run zero-100 kilometers per hour in less than six seconds.
Holding the juice is a 108.4 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack that gives the vehicle a range of as much as 717 kilometers (based on Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure).
The EQS comes with Mercedes-Benz Driving Assistance Package Plus — giving its customers the perks of semi-automated driving.
Available in Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Greenhills, San Juan; Bonifacio Global City, Taguig; Alabang, Muntinlupa; and Cebu; the 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC AMG has an introductory price of P9.99 million.
