Auto Nation Group, the general importer and distributor of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the Philippines, has expanded the GLB compact crossover’s line with the introduction of the GLB200 Progressive.
In an interview, ANG Head of Sales and Marketing Rhomel Franco said that the latest variant is being offered to “strengthen the modular front architecture.”
“We saw that there is a need to provide for an entry-level version,” Franco told Carmudi Philippines.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB200 Progressive has brought the nameplate’s variations to two — with the AMG Line remaining to be the top-of-the-line trim.
The units, ANG shared, are set to arrive within the week.
In a statement, ANG said that the newly-introduced line highlights its engineering layout — fitting capability and space into a small frame and making the vehicle highly-versatile and functional.
Instead of the chromed front splitter found on the AMG version, the Mercedes-Benz GLB200 Progressive features a simulated underguard at the front and rear in high-gloss chrome to highlight its off-road nature.
Also, the newly-unveiled trim wears two-single louvers with chrome inserts (AMG Line has a single louver grille with diamond pins in chrome).
The wheel size remains at 19 inches. However, the Progressive comes with a 10-spoke version, replacing the five-twin spoke alloys that are found in the crème-dela-crème variant.
Inside, the Mercedes-Benz GLB200 Progressive comes with a seven-inch digital instrument display, and a 10.25-inch MBUX multimedia system that is Android Auto- and Apple CarPlay-compatible.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB200 Progressive can only seat a maximum of five occupants as against the AMG’s seven-seater capacity. The vehicle also has a two-zone air-conditioning system, unlike the AMG’s three-zone cooling occupant cooling system.
Further, the seats of the Mercedes-Benz GLB200 Progressive are covered in full Artico man-made leather.
For its hauling capacity, the SUV can carry up 570 liters of cargo behind the second-row seats.
Moreover, the Mercedes-Benz GLB200 Progressive is equipped with a myriad of safety and convenience features such as active brake assist, active parking assist with 12 ultrasonic sensors, cruise control, attention assist drowsiness detection, seven airbags (two-stage deployment airbags for driver and passenger, windowbags for driver, front passenger and rear passengers and knee bag for driver), and Isofix child-seat mountings.
ANG shared that the Mercedes-Benz GLB 200 Progressive — which can be viewed at Mercedes-Benz showrooms in Greenhills, Bonifacio Global City, Alabang and Cebu City — has a starting price of P3.99 million.
